Jesus’ Final Passion

God’s Word:John 17

God’s message to me:

Jesus was a missionary and He did not waver in the mission He came to earth to accomplish.  His mission was to display my power, glory and splendor to humanity for the purpose of bringing real and eternal life to all those who would believe.  Jesus “lived out” My character in detail during his years on earth.  That was His purpose—his mission.  He accomplished this mission by displaying my loving compassion on humanity—even to the point of a sacrificial death.

What was His final passion?  You!  He said “I pray for them (speaking about His followers). . . . . . .My life is on display in them. . . Holy Father, guard them as they pursue this life that you conferred as a gift through Me, so they can be one heart and mind as We are one heart and mind.  I’m asking that you guard them from the evil one.  Make them holy—consecrated—with the truth.  In the same way that you gave me a mission in the world, I give them a mission in the world.  I’m praying not only for these followers but for those who will believe in Me because of their witness about Me.  My goal is that they be united in heart and mind—that the world might believe.  In the same way that you gave me a mission in the world, I give them a mission in the world.”

About 2,000 earth years have passed since Jesus walked your earth.  I am still answering His final prayer—through your life.  Did you grasp the thread that wove that prayer together?  He prayed that His followers would carry on His mission by being united, living holy and consecrated lives by the truths He had taught them.  That was His final passion—You!

God’s Question for me: What is the mission and passion of your life?

God’s Promise to me: John 3:16-17 “This is how much I loved the world: I gave My Son, My one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. I didn’t go to all the trouble of sending My Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again.”

My prayer to God:

Adoration:  How deeply grateful I am that Jesus thought of me in his final prayer.  Oh how I want to carry out His mission that He passed on to me.

Confession:  Oh how many times I fail You—my sorrow knows no boundaries.  Help me to set self aside and let You shine through the words and deeds of my life.

Thanksgiving:  I am so thankful for those who came before me and were faithful to their mission so that I was led to follow in your footsteps.

Supplication:  May all who come behind me find me faithful!

My Song to God: So Send I You

So send I you to labor unrewarded
To serve unpaid, unloved, unsought, unknown
To bear rebuke, to suffer scorn and scoffing
So send I you to toil for Me alone

So send I you to bind the bruised and broken
Over wandering souls to work, to weep, to wake
To bear the burdens of a world a-weary
So send I you to suffer for My sake

So send I you to loneliness and longing
With hart a-hungering for the loved and known
Forsaking kin and kindred, friend and dear one
So send I you to know My love alone

So send I you to leave your life’s ambition
To die to dear desire, self-will resign
To labor long, and love where men revile you
So send I you to lose your life in Mine

So send I you to hearts made hard by hatred
To eyes made blind because they will not see
To spend, though it be blood to spend and spare not
So send I you to taste of Calvary

“As the Father hath sent me, so send I you”
