Trust and Obey

God’s Word: Genesis 7

God’s Message to me:

I have an oasis of protection for those who walk with me—no matter what storms of life may threaten destruction.  I gave Noah an Ark, Elijah a Raven, Daniel I saved from the mouths of lions.  There is nothing I cannot do–but I make decisions about my actions from a different frame of reference than you would use.  I have a broad frame of reference that takes in the whole earth.  You consider only the little part of the world that affects you.

Oh that mankind would enlarge their frame of reference!  My Word teaches care for others instead of selfishness but it is a constant battle for mankind.  I’m always on the lookout for someone who will live unselfishly and simply obey me.  Not easy to find because following the beat of my drum often requires putting yourself in harm’s way.

Noah was scorned and rejected because of his following the beat of my drum.  And that boat ride was enough to put fear in the heart of the most worthy sailor.  Daniel was thrown to the lions.  Elijah ate bread brought by the scavenger Raven. Don’t expect an easy life by following me.  My Son did not have an easy life.  He left you an example and I call you to follow in his steps.  As Christ lived for others and the eternal life beyond—I am calling you to trust and obey.

God’s Question for me:

Will you cast self aside and seek how you can best serve others—on My behalf?

God’s Promise to me:

When the storms of life are raging—I’m right there beside those who trust and obey.

My Song to God:

Trust and Obey (Click to hear the music played)
by John H. Sammis and Marc Hedlin – Copyright ©

When we walk with the Lord
In the light of His Word
What glory He sheds on our way
While we do His good will
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

chorus:
Trust and obey,
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
But to trust and obey.

Not a shadow can rise,
Not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt nor a fear,
Not a sigh nor a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
(chorus)

But we never can prove
The delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows,
And the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.
(chorus)

Then in fellowship sweet
We will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do,
Where He sends we will go,
Never fear only trust and obey.
(chorus)
