God’s Bedrock Love

God’s Word: Psalms 144

God’s Attribute: God is the bedrock on which I stand.

God’s Message to me:

I created the very foundation of the earth and set all the laws of gravity into motion in order to provide an environment for mankind to live and move and have your being.  I did it all for you.  Why?  Because I love what my hand has created.  As a parent loves their offspring my love for you surpasses even a parents love.  At times a parent will reject their offspring but I will never reject you.

Because I won’t reject you doesn’t mean I won’t hold you accountable for the choices you make—especially the most important choice—to follow Christ.  Even your refusal to do this doesn’t take my love from you—but it gives me great sadness to be rejected by my own child.

My love for you is the foundation, the very bedrock of your life, which I demonstrated by coming to earth in the form of Christ.  My love is a wellspring of everlasting peace and joy to bless and encourage and keep you.  When you choose to step out into the sandy soils of life and be tossed to and fro by the waves of the world, it hurts my heart to see you battered so.  But I give you the freedom to make that choice.  I will always love you but you are the only one who can cut yourself off from the benefits of my love.

God’s Question for me:

Will you remain on my solid foundation of bedrock by living by my Words of wisdom?

God’s Promise to me:

Nothing can come between you and my love for you—except your choice to reject it.

My Song to God:

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

2. When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

3. His oath, His covenant, and blood
Support me in the whelming flood;
When every earthly prop gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

4. When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found,
Clothed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne!
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
