Desire Overshadows Reality

God’s Word: Psalms 126

God’s Attribute: Gives armloads of blessings

God’s Message to me:

The desires of mankind are insatiable.  Remember when you were a child and asked your parents for some desired object, and promised them you would never ask for anything else, if they would just give you what you desired at that moment.  Desire overshadows reality.  When you desire something, all else pales as you focus with intent on the desire.

Your desires can be used for good or ill.  Desire is good for it drives a person toward a goal.  However, not all goals are healthy, either physically or spiritually.  Choose your goals wisely—asking me for guidance.  But remember, success in reaching a goal or defeat, neither one necessarily mean my guidance was with you or absent.

Often, you learn more valuable lessons in your defeats than your successes.   It is the defeats that build character and give you strength to reach the really worthwhile goals. Armloads of blessing don’t satisfy mankind forever.  Moreover, too many blessings often spoil you for future successes.

Therefore, rejoice in your blessings and when the hard time comes, recall those former good moments and rejoice still.  Let your grateful attitude be the “talk of the town.”

God’s Question for me:

What desires are driving you right now—and who will they honor and benefit?

God’s Promise to me:

A good life gets passed on to grandchildren. Proverbs 13:22

My Song to God:

There shall be showers of blessing—this is the promise of love;

There shall be seasons refreshing, Sent from the Savior above.

Showers of blessing, showers of blessing we need;

Mercy drops round us are falling, but for the showers we plead.

    You and I know that when we are about His business we ultimately receive the desires of our hearts! Praise God!
