Boundaries of Protection

God’s Word: Psalms 125

God’s Attribute: God encircles his people.

God’s Message to me:

As a child runs to a parents encircling arms for protection, I encircle those who have placed themselves within my boundaries of safety.  Sadly, many feel that my encircling boundaries limit them.  They want freedom to do their own thing.  They do not realize that my encircling boundaries do not limit—they give freedom and safety—under my protection.

Life without boundaries brings much pain and suffering.  Without boundaries mankind allows extreme selfishness to consume.  The shepherd’s purpose is not to limit the freedom of the sheep but to protect them on their lifelong quest for food and water to sustain them.

Just like the sheep’s continual wandering beyond the boundaries, so is mankind.  The grass looks a little greener just a little farther out.  You want what you don’t have and choose to step away from my protection to grasp it for yourself.  The consequences of these choices are most often disastrous.   Return to me and I will return to you.

God’s Question for me:

Are you suffering any consequences because of stepping outside of my encircling protective boundaries?

God’s Promise to me:

Draw near to me and I will draw near to you.

My Song to God:

I am Jesus’ little lamb

Happy all day long I am.

He will keep me safe I know,

For I’m his little lamb.
