Gone! gone! gone! gone!

God’s Word: Psalms 85

God’s Attribute: (1, 2) God. . . You lifted the cloud of guilt from your people, you put their sins far out of sight.

God’s Message to me:

It is my pleasure to take away your guilt—to pardon your sin.  That was the whole purpose of my coming to earth in the form of Jesus Christ.  I am eager and willing to pardon sin.  But I must first be requested to do so.  I don’t just automatically overlook everyone’s sin.  I give them ample opportunities to recognize their sin and turn to me for forgiveness.  Guilt is a terrible taskmaster.  It ruins lives and I knew that so I willingly suffered to secure forgiveness for all who turn to me.  I made a way for you to have your guilt removed and live eternally with me in Heaven.  G-O-N-E, yes, your sins are GONE!

My simple instructions are: 1—recognize your sin,  2—ask me to forgive you, 3—obey what my word clearly says to do in order to seal the deal—submit to baptism as Jesus set the example.  My word says “Repent and be baptized and you will receive forgiveness of sins.”  I tried to make it very simple for mankind.  As many have said, it takes far more than simply being dunked in water to receive forgiveness.  You people tend to be too judgmental over each other.  I am able to see a part of each person that it is impossible for any others to see.  I can see the thoughts and intents of the heart.

A problem arises when you hold onto your guilt and let the mistakes of the past ruin the hopes of the future.  I tell you—they are forgiven—now get on with your life.  I know you so well that I prepared, before your birth, tasks that only you can do.  But I certainly do not force you into doing them.  No, I have created you with a desire to do them—on my behalf, for others.  But, so often, guilt makes people bound and unable to go forward in victory.  I’ve told you I forgive, now please forgive yourself and step out in faith in my ability to forgive and heal the rift your sins have created.  Your sins are GONE.

God’s question for me:

Will you accept my forgiveness and make it a conscious effort to offer that same forgiveness to all those you come in contact with?  (Did I mention that my forgiveness is bound up in your willingness to forgive others?)

God’s promise to me:

Acts 13:36 I want you to know, my very dear friends, that it is on account of this resurrected Jesus that the forgiveness of your sins can be promised

Very good thoughts! I have learned that among all the gifts God has given us the gift of guilt is in the top 5 of most beneficial. The Holy Spirit hovers over the earth convicting the world of their sin. Unless we feel guilty of our sins, followed by repentance and forgiveness we are still lost. Meat? Oh yes, this is eating the meat of the word!
